Lego. Brick game. Magic Spring. And now here comes… Magneato.
Magneato is a toy composed of different magnetic balls and tubes. Its primary function is for you to assemble different items / figures using its elements. Its a lot like Lego except that its pieces really stick with each other. Magneato is a really fun toy!
I first saw Magneato in my Australian boss' desk when he brought the toy one day after he came from a meeting. When he left the country, I had the chance to play with the toy. I was really having fun because it was so magnetic. Its not like those cheap magnets you use for note holders in refrigerators. These are very durable magnets… I even sticked them to a metal thing and it was really holding well.
There are lots of things to create using Magneato. If you're really up to it, you could form the Eiffel Tower or the skeleton which engineers based to create the SM Mall of Asia…
One thing that sucks with this toy is that the pieces tend to get lost easily. Just like Lego, the pieces are very small and there is a strong chance that the items may be misplaced in different parts of the house. It's really a bummer if there are lost pieces of a very good toy.
Magneato is not suitable for very young kids… especially with babies. The pieces may be swallowed by those playing it. Parents may suddenly even wonder why all magnetic household items come sticking to their kid.
All in all, Magneato is a very brillantly-created toy. You'll rack your brains out as you try to create whole new items using only the pieces inside the box. And if you're a frustrated engineer, you can showcase your talent here and one day you'll achieve your goal… thanks to Magneato!
